RTV reporting crew threatened, vehicle tyres slashed

On March 31, a TV crew from Slovenian public broadcaster Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTV) was verbally abused and threatened by an unidentified individual as they were reporting on the coronavirus lockdown in the capital Ljubljana. The man shouted abuse at the crew as they filmed empty streets as part of their report. After walking off, the assailant then returned to the crew’s company vehicle and slashed the tyres. The incident was reported to police. It was one of three incidents involving verbal abuse targeted at RTV crews in the space of a few days. Television Slovenia said any kind of violence was unacceptable. The Slovenian Journalists Association (DNS) condemned the attack. Slovene Prime Minister Janez Jansa, Defense Minister Matej Tonin and Minister of Public Administration Boštjan Koritnik all denounced the incident on twitter.
